#7 Dulaney Lions second half shooting against Boys Latin mirrored recent Baltimore weather Saturday night. After building a 11 (35-24) point lead in the first half of the Oakland Mills holiday tournament championship game, the Lions went ice cold in the third and fourth quarters. Boys Latin head coach Cliff Rees switched to a 3-2 zone defense in the second half. The defense frustrated Dulaney holding the Lions to 7 points combine in the final 16 minutes of the game.
Lakers senior Kenny Lewis and Jaylin Andrews merged for 37 points during the contest. Boys Latin eventually battled back by converting long defensive rebounds into easy baskets and knocking down jump shots. Dulaney was unable to change the momentum in the second half. Highly touted recruit Che Evans Jr fouled out in the fourth quarter with 7 points. Southern Utah bound Josh Cornish was held scoreless in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Freshman Ryan Conway lead all scorers with 24 points in a losing effort. Boys Latin went on to claim the 2017 Oakland Mills Holiday title 59-42.
Lakers’ Andrews was given tournament MVP. Lewis and Spencer also received tournament honors. Lions Conway was selected to the All-Tournament team as well.
