Baltimore- Several local high school athletes suited up for day one of the Carver Holiday Hoops tournament Thursday night. Franklin (4-2) and Mt Carmel (4-9) was the second of 3 varsity games on the schedule along with 2 JV matches. Franklin battled Mt Carmel to an entertaining 65-62 victory. Ben Murphy led the Baltimore County squad scoring 15 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter. AJ Sims also scored in double figures for Franklin ending the contest with 17 points. Mt Carmel’s Hill led all scorers with 23 points in a losing effort.

In the third varsity game the contest didn’t fair well for the host team. After jumping out to an early first quarter lead, Suitland (5-1) full court press wore the Bears (0-5) down in route to a 64-44 victory. Carver’s Michael Thompson Jr led all scorers with 20 points followed by Ram’s D’Andre Bolton’s 15 points. 

Friday, the Carver Hoops tournament will continue starting at 10 am until the final game at 6:45pm.
