Laurel, MD – Calvert Hall College (2-0) dominated Pallotti (1-1) Friday night in a MIAA A and B conference showdown. Coming off an impressive 44-20 road win against Woodland Hills (PA), the Cardinals imposed their will in all three phases of the game at Fairland Regional park. Hall’s Sean Tucker provided the bulk of the offense scoring 3 rushing touchdowns in the 35-0 win. Two of the Syracuse committ’s touchdowns were over 50 yards (51 yds and 67 yds).
Defensively, Calvert Hall frustrated Palloti’s rushing and passing attack throughout the contest. Junior defensive lineman Omari Lewis and Sophomore Daniel Owens caused havoc up front stuffing the run; in addition to applying constant pressure on Pallotti’s quarterbacks. The Cards’ defense also won the turnover battle causing several fumbles in the contest. A late second quarter interception by Villanova commit Ty Trinh set up a 3 yard TD reception by Cole Herbert (14-0 2Q).
All night Pallotti’s special teams flirted with disaster during punting attempts. In a number of situations, the Cards came close to blocking a punt in Panther territory. Late in the third quarter, the Hall’s special teams efforts finally came into fruition. Cards were able to block a punt and recover the ball on the Panther’s 7 yard line. Senior Ray Glass eventually punched in a 7 yard touchdown for the last score of the game (35-0 3Q).
Next week, Calvert Hall will play their 3rd road in row against St Mary’s Ryken. Game time is at 7pm but Knights have a Youtube channel that broadcast games live.
