Millions Up For Grabs in @thetournament

Its winner takes all at Coppin St University tonight for “The Basketball Tournament” Championship game. Two-time defending champions Team Overseas Elite (18-0) will take on Team Challenge ALS (18-5) Thursday night for a cool $2 million. Overseas Elite defeated Boeheim’s Army 81-77 in front from a packed crowd at Coppin St University. Unfortunately, it was a bitter sweet homecoming for Baltimore Native’s CJ Fair and Donte Green. Fair finished with 10 points during the contest, while Green added 4 points in the loss. CJ played his first three years of High School basketball at City College.  New Town Head Basketball Coach Mike Daniel was in attendance Tuesday night to watch his former player compete. Daniel coached Fair at City College before departing for Severn School. Both CJ and Donte are currently playing professional basketball in Europe.

The Championship game will feature several big time college basketball players. Former St. John’s University DJ Kennedy is one of several marquee players on Team Overseas. Team Challenge, who defeated Scarlet & Gray 88-83 in double OT, features former Long Beach St. Casper Ware and Boston College’s Sean Marshall

Tip-off of tonight Championship game is at 7pm. ESPN will broadcast the event for global audiences.
