Many kids backyard basketball dreams came true Saturday afternoon for Randallstown’s sophomore Keshawn Ennals. Down 54-53 with less than a second to play, the 5-9 guard knocked down both one and one free throws to give Randallstown a 55-54 victory. The win boost the Rams to an overall 4-2 record.
Randallstown dominated the first half maintaining a 7 to 9 point lead. New Era climbed back into the game by extending their defense to a full court press. Jaguars took their first lead of the game 31-29 late in the third quarter. The teams went back and fourth with several lead exchanges for the remainder of the game. New Era built its largest lead with less than 6 minutes to play in the fourth.
Down 2 with less than a minute in the contest, Jaguars’ Thompson swished a huge baseline 3 pointer to go up 54-53. Randallstown had one last try to tie or win the game with 1 second remaining. The Rams prayers were answered when Ennals was fouled on a sideline inbound pass. The rest is history as Randallstown sealed their second victory of the new year. Cameron Isaacs the Rams in scoring with 21 points. Jaguars Kahlih Williams had 28 points in the loss.
Randallstown will turn around and play Franklin on the road on Monday. New Era (3-3) will host Digital Harbor on Tuesday.
