Ninety degree temperature or a thunderstorm delay wouldn’t stop Baltimore area high school athletes from shining in the 2018 Maryland State Track and Field Championship Saturday. Highly decorated track star Nyjari McNeil of Franklin High School was one of many Baltimore Area standouts who put on an outstanding performance in the state finals at Morgan St University. McNeil became a three-peat champion in the 400 meter and 800 meter events. Franklin’s girls placed second overall in Class 3A behind Harford Tech.
On the Boys’ side, Brandon James of New Town and Joseph Ewan of Mervo were among several big winners. In his second year of track and field, James won the Class 2A 200 meter and 400 meter events at his future home. The Titans senior committed to run track for Morgan St University earlier in the year. Representing Baltimore City, Mervo’s Joseph Ewan captured the 4A 100 meter dash title in 10.92 seconds. Click on the links below to see the final results for all the classes.
